My How Time, She Does Fly

YIKES!!!!!!! I cannot believe how long it has been since my last post...

BB has decided that we need a trailer so we can camp as a family.

First, let me say that while I adore the idea of camping as a family, I am not so sure about the expense of a trailer...I know that the benefits are numerous...but do they outweigh spending a good chunk of money?

If we lived in California, or Arizona or Nevada, we could use it for 9 months out of the year...whereas in Colorado, we can really only use the ones we can afford for maybe 4...5 if we're blessed with a long Indian Summer...

However...I would love to take the kiddos out into the wilderness and see them as they explore and play and hike and tromp and chase bugs...and I would love if we could do that BEFORE they enter school...and BEFORE they decide that getting dirty is a bad thing...

I know that we haven't camped yet for a number of reasons, which sound good in my head, but rather weak when I say them aloud...Capt Chaos was too tiny, we lost my Grandmother, we were in California for graduation, we were pregnant, we were traveling for a wedding...but there were many weeks in between those happenings, in which we could totally have packed up and headed out for a weekend in the wilderness...

Tiny Princess and Captain Chaos thoroughly enjoyed tromping through, climbing on, opening and closing every cabinet door, onto and off of every bed, counter and nook and cranny of every trailer into which we went. In fact, it has gotten to the point that I think Captain Chaos might be disappointed when camping turns out to be outside, and not involving climbing in and out of trailers all weekend long, and that we might actually have to sit in it for longer than a few short minutes at a time (or long eternities in his mind)...

And, on a completely unrelated note...who in the world decided that the storyline surrounding children switched at birth should include one of them dying of bacterial meningitis?!?!?!? YIKES this has been a depressing couple of weeks worth of DOTL...to the point that I can't even watch it unless I'm doing something else like blogging, or playing a game...not even folding laundry or doing the ironing can take away from getting sucked into the feelings evoked by these episodes...it doesn't help that I'm behind a week, due to other things going on...

And, in more completely unrelated news...Captain Chaos went in for his evaluation today...the pathologist was great, and we should have her assessment by the end of the week. Our insurance wouldn't cover the pathologist that our doctor wanted us to see originally, but this place is good, close to home, fun, and has a great staff...hopefully our insurance will cover the visits that they would like us to schedule. He was a great little guy today, answering questions, playing games, talking up a storm, and he was such a polite man, saying please and thank you, and he was just so sweet and happy, and cooperative...

She did ask us what type of food he liked...crunchy or sweet, or salty...and I wasn't sure how that plays into his speech issues...I mean, he eats food...all of it...cookies, chips, carrots, peppers, celery, noodles, meat...I don't call him my little Garbage Disposal for nothing...that kid will eat just about anything we put in front of him...I mean, does spicy food make it difficult for you to talk, or easier? Does eating crunchy food help you learn how to form your dental fricatives?

OY!!!!!!

Pray with me this week as we wait for word from our insurance company and the pathologist...pray that Captain will respond to the therapy that we can participate in, and for BB and I to practice effectively and efficiently to help him correct and learn all of his sounds...what I do know is that we are now, for the first time in our lives, LOOKING for dandelions that are gone to fluff, so we can practice blowing them around the parks to practice sounds...

Sigh...well, tonight, BB has a meeting and for now, I'm enjoying catching up on DOTL, without children running around and hollering in fun through the house...
