Why is it that a network owned by the Walt Disney company, with all its bazillions of dollars and amazing staff of Imangineers cannot come up with new episodes of programs that were created to run daily?!?!?!?!?
I understand that a 3 year old is not likely to remember having seen "Goofy's Hat" just 6 short days ago, but do they really assume that the parents will be leaving their children in front of a television set for hours at a time, and not watching what is on? I mean, seriously...how many stay-at-home parents plunk their kids down in front of the TV, turn on the Disney channel and walk away? Am I a freak because I don't let Captain Chaos watch much TV to begin with (less than 2 hours a week), and more so because we don't watch any mainstream programming (i.e. anything NOT on PBSKids, or Playhouse Disney) when he is awake? Are there truly parents out there who just let their children watch unattended and don't monitor things at all?
How can you be a totally hands-off parent?!?!?! Do people not realize that the distancing of parents from their children cause major issues, and, in my opinion, is the 2nd cause of the decline of Western Civilization (the first being the intolerance for anything that hints at conservative Christianity)?
And now that I've ranted about that for awhile, Riddle Me This - why do people automatically assume that ALL members of a specific breed of dog are evil, vicious, and should be banned? For those of you wondering just what I am talking about, recently, a comment was published in our paper about one of the local dog parks, in which a Pit Bull (seen from across a LARGE park) was seen attacking other dogs while the owner supposedly did nothing. This sparked the heated debate about whether or not Pits should be banned due to their vicious and fighting nature. I was even surprised that someone sent a letter to the editor about the ban on Pits in certain major metropolitan areas not in Colorado, and that we should follow suit in our little town. I am always curious why people don't realize that ALL dogs will turn vicious under the right circumstances. It seems to be conveniently forgotten that dogs are domesticated, but still classified as animals, without the ability to reason. It seems to be forgotten that we forced animals to become pets and friendly...but that the majority of dogs were originally bred to be either hunters, or used as warriors. It wasn't until quite recently (relatively speaking) that animals were bred for companionship, and entertainment, or rescue. Dogs were always designed to be of assistance to humans in some way or another...so why do people get all bent out of shape when their natural instincts take over, and they fight, or hunt?
I realize that the first issue is not life-shattering, merely annoying, and the second will spark many comments, and I truly welcome them all. I'm honestly curious to know what other people from other places think!
