Inspired to Unleash the Domestic Goddess

Well...my Mama came over yesterday under the guise of delivering a quilt for Tiny Princess. It is BEAUTIFUL...I just need to unfold it when Captain Chaos won't run over it so I can snap a few pics of it post! She named it Sweet Pea, and made a label and everything for it...wowie!

While she was here, she played with the Capt, rocked the Princess, cleaned the kids' rooms, vacuumed, dusted, and straightened my family room...when she moved into the kitchen, and started scrubbing my counters I realized that I had become jaded to the mess while BB was on leave and home...and fairly grossed out...it was really gross...

SO...while Mama was cleaning the kitchen, I settled the munchkins for naps AT THE SAME TIME! (insert the Hallelujah Chorus here!) and moved into the bathrooms...all 3 bathrooms are now scrubbed spotless, and you could eat your breakfast in my tubs, or safely drink from the toilets (at least in the powder room and the kids' bathroom...BB used ours...'nuff said), and if you so desired lick the floors. After the bathrooms, I tackled the floors in the rest of the house...everything that did not move has now been dusted, vacuumed, mopped or scrubbed...I even scrubbed my trash cans (Aggie and Kim would be SO proud of me!). I was actually very proud of myself, because I cleaned the kids' things with non-toxic green recipes garnered from "How Clean is Your House?"...although I do wonder, what exactly ARE white spirits?!?!?! I know bicarb is good old Baking Soda, but when you need to remove greasy stains from your carpets, where do you find white spirits??? I have a hunch that its just good old rubbing alcohol, but was afraid I'd ruin the carpet in my master bathroom (can I say I hate the lady who decided to have CARPET in her bathroom when the house was built?!??!!?)...so I used some Resolve dry shaky brush it in stuff...

On that same note, I am spending the day in my kitchen. I currently have English Muffin bread rising, sourdough started, and butter softening to make chocolate chip cookies. I'm sorry, as good as Thin Mints are, there's nothing quite like a cookie jar full of home made cookies!!!!

BB wants leftovers for dinner tonight...if I have to eat one more serving of lasagna I'll throw up...and I know he wants the roast, so I'm stuck with either lasagna or the chicken pot pie we had last night...*SIGH*

I'm hankering for some good old spicy Mexican food...I'm jonesing for a machaca burrito drowning in green chile, with cheese dripping off of it, some sour cream, chips, guacamole, salsa...chile rellenos...enchiladas...heck, I'd even eat menudo at this point, just to have SOMETHING other than what I've been eating...

Hmmmmm...maybe I'll make "American Enchiladas"...you know the ones...where you use flour tortillas, and a package of Lowry's taco seasoning along with a can of Old El Paso enchilada sauce...except I think I only have green...not red...hmmmm...maybe some chili and cornbread then...but let me tell you, if I hear one person tell me that I should try it with vanilla ice cream, I'm running away...I can do Cincinnati style with spaghetti (although that's still weird), and I'll put it on my burger or my hot dog, and eat it with cheese, sour cream, chips, tortillas, cornbread, rice...do NOT ask me to eat it with ice cream...that still makes me gag...

Just ask FarmWife what I'm talking about...

I think we covered the ice cream on chili thing a few months ago.
