Dinner Dilemma

Mom and Dad are coming for dinner tomorrow night, along with my brother, and I'm debating between cooking a roast, or having barbecue...suggestions anyone?

Keep in mind that BB doesn't want me to spend anymore money for food this month, so we can have roast, mashed potatoes, and cooked vegetables, with brownies from a box, OR I can attempt to make something spectacular out of a lot of nothing in my pantry...

I know you're wondering how this could be when my last post said we went to Costco right? Well, you see, we don't really need 18 pounds of cheese, or 45 pounds of beef at one time...SOOO...when we go to Costco it is for things like paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and occasionally we get food when there is a really really great deal. As a result, I have 19 pounds of oranges, a box of 96 granola bars, 48 rolls of toilet paper, 12 rolls of paper towels, 832 baby wipes, 450 disinfecting all-purpose wipes (costco brand of Clorox wipes), 5 dozen batteries in varying sizes, 195 band-aids, and an institutional size bottle of Advil...as well as 3 giant Rubbermaid tubs to pack things away safely in my basement (see prior post), 50 pounds each of sugar and flour for my baking, and 2 giant boxes of trash bags. OH, and we bought PJs for Capt Chaos, a "play'n'sleep" for Princess, and some unmentionables for BB and myself...which is pretty sad that you buy your unmentionables at Costco...in bulk...

I miss the days of walking into Victoria's Secret and just buying 6 or 8 things, and not thinking twice about the price...but I suppose that's why we're freaking out about spending money at Costco...

OK...I rambled there for a while...my question is now this:

When faced with entertaining family...do you punt and use what you have, or do you get creative and make something up...OR option 3...go shopping against your husband's wishes...help!!!!!

roast sounds like comfort food and that goes with family. (IMO=In My Opinion) Roast falling off the fork, with mashed potataoes and green beans and carrots. Mmm hmmm

Good luck..And just for the record I freak everytime I come out of costco with my receipt..(And I have 6 in my household)
