Memories - A Double Edged Sword

For those of who checked out Inkling's comment...that invitation lives on in the halls of fame as uber-sappy, uber-romantic, and almost made me croak! My BROTHER!?!??!!? The guy who made armpit noises, put peanut butter under his arm for a middle school retreat thing, and would run around the house with my cousin, both of them with their fingers laden with olives from the relish tray at family holidays did something that required creativity, sensitivity, forethought, and a ROSE!?!?!??!

Honestly, I didn't blame her too much for backing out...after all, he IS my brother, and I knew all the secrets of his worst habits, personal grooming (or lack thereof for a looong while), and his little vanities...

Of course, this brought up my own memories of my own trip to Spring Banquet, and the shopping trip prior to said banquet...and if I remember correctly, that banquet was the one in which we attempted with several sets of hot rollers to make FW look like Marisa Tomei in "Oscar".

Oy...how far we've come in the years since that night, and how thankful I am that the past is the past! Some of the things I did and said that year in college...ugh!

There was a boy...whom I shall refer to as Candy ___...which I'm sure FW will remember as poor little Leah's ummm...shall we say stalker? At any rate...I think, no, I'm certain I made a fool of myself over this boy. Oh the things I tried to get his attention. I did NOT take lightly to being unnoticed...and the worst part is that I had a wonderful, amazing, incredible, BORING, boyfriend at home...told you I made some bad choices...

I must admit, however, that among the memories that make me shudder, there are the memories that make me smile and outright laugh. For instance, the day we sat and watched to guys play football, and ended up snake-sitting...or the day that we tried to go get food at the cafeteria, and they closed it and sent us back to the dorms because there was a tornado coming right for campus...and then the snowball fight the guys had in the yard with the hail after the storm passed.

I could ramble for hours about this, however! Captain Chaos only sleeps so long, and I have much to do to get my sweet hubby ready for his early trip to California...

The first Marissa Tomi hair attempt was for a HS valentines banquet I went to with a boy from the Zondervan's in the mall. The second was for Spring banquet...

And you are not the only one who made a fool of your self over Candy ___. Inkling went out with him once, I had a huge crush on him ALL YEAR that year, Art had a long distance romance with him...in fact, he may be the tie that binds! ;op Ugh!

Okay, if you didn't know the invitation was written by your brother, you would have been smitten, I am certain. As for the grooming issues, I never knew. I just knew that I had to fight Missy-what's-her-name over him, which made my life miserable for one summer. But now your brother gets to live with lions, and I get to live with a mountain man whose grooming habits are quite similar to your brother's. =) (Don't tell my husband I said that.)

And as for Candy.....who are you guys talking about? I went out with him once? If you mean the guy with more angst than a soap opera whose name ryhmes with clod, and who supposedly told the world that his worst date ever was with me, then I think I know who you mean. (As for the record....our date wasn't bad at all. We went for a nice walk in the woods somewhere, maybe grabbed a bite to eat, and then said goodbye. He was probably hoping for meaningless face, and if that's why he thought it was so horrible, than good for him.) Ah. Memories.

Now that I think of it, you didn't mean turtle boy from Kentucky/Indiana did you? All these memories are gonna make me need more therapy. =)

Clod...hee hee hee...that's funny! And he DID have more angst than a soap opera... as for Missy, the funny thing is my brother was never interested in her that way...so all the good it did her to fight eh? (ooh, was that Great White North speak or what?)
Next thing you know, I'll be saying Aboot... :D
