Gotta Go Back...Back..Back to School Again

Please forgive my use of a song from the original "not nearly as good as the original installment" Grease 2. Mind, I love Michelle Pfeiffer, and I love a musical, especially one that involves period costumes and the like.

But, I digress...

This morning was Captain's first morning of his Pre-K program, and I have very mixed emotions. He was so grown-up this morning, getting dressed in the clothes we picked last night before bed, calmly explaining to me that "maybe I'll eat one waffle, and then, if I'm still hungry, you could give me half of another waffle, and if I'm still hungry again, I could eat the rest. Yep, I think I'll have two waffles Mom.", getting his shoes on, putting on his backpack and his adorable too-big-for-him baseball cap from vacation to Grandma & Grandpa's in Oregon this summer, and excitedly jumping down the stairs from our house to the garage, and bopping along to hop into the car and pull the seat belt across his shoulder and buckle up...

I barely got a hug and kiss and was amused in that bittersweet way when he said "You take good care of DG and Littlest One while I'm at school Mom, and I'll see you later."

I had a good morning with "the girls", running to Target where I purchased another booster seat for Captain to have in the truck, so we can move the other car seat into the car so BB can drive both Captain and DG on Wednesdays...

DG was surprisingly well-behaved at the store today, helping pick the items off the shelves that we needed, asking "Can I help now Mommy?" at the check-stand, even handing the cashier the cash for our purchase, and saying "thank you!" to the cashier and to the employee that was on cart return duty. She helped entertain Littlest One while we were waiting in line, after we got home and I unloaded items.

I'm looking forward to next week, when I'll have less on my to-do list, and can have Littlest One down for her morning nap, and focus on one-on-one time with DG, cuddling, reading, dressing up, and, of course, throwing some learning in there so we can bolster that mind up with all the knowledge that a 2 1/2 year old needs!

For now, I'm preparing for a long weekend camping trip, and chuckling that of all the places in the house that are warm and cozy, the cats are curled up in the laundry basket. Thankfully, it is currently empty, as there is a load drying and a load washing.

Back to work! Enjoy your day...

So sweet. I think it's just wonderful that you get to experience the school phase, the two's phase and the infant phase all at once. I'm sure it makes for interesting days.

And yes, cats and laundry baskets are a given. We're lucky if ours settle for the dirty one rather than the clean one.
