Rambling

Fall is upon us with a seemingly large vengeance. We had a gorgeous sunny day yesterday, around 80-something degrees, clear skies, so apropos for the 2nd week of the NFL season...

The last day of summer ended with a bang and fall was ushered in with a cloudy gray sky, and rain that's been falling on and off since around 4 this morning. I know, because it was actually blowing in the window and I got some spray in my face and woke me up. I closed the window, crawled back in my warm bed, and promptly returned to dreamland, not waking again until 7.

It was a dark gray sky at that time, with no rain, the deck was dry, and it just looked to be a dreary day.

However, by 8, it was misting again, and by 8:30, when BB left for the office, it was raining pretty hard. It's been on and off since then, and I'm resisting the urge to turn on the furnace, as it is still 70 in the house. It is odd to sit here this morning with the light on above my kitchen table, which is cleared of extraneous items. It will be odd to take care of the breakfast dishes with the light on, and know that it is almost 10am...but it is so overcast outside that it is actually almost dark in the house this morning.

I did 7 loads of laundry, washed, dried, folded and put away, changed our bed, power-cleaned our room (as in, wiped the baseboard, cleaned the windows and ceiling fan sort of cleaning) and bathroom, changed the kids' beds, and dusted my entire house (actually picked up the stuff on the shelves and dusted the stuff as well as under it). All that is left to do is clean the kids' bathroom, and clean my floors and some ironing. At least that's it for the 'normal mom chores'...

On my project list is:
  • sort through old kids' clothes and pack accordingly
  • clean my closet to make room for my maternity clothes to not be stacked on the floor, but hung on hangers
  • clean the office thoroughly (all the filing is caught up, but it needs to have windows and fan, moldings the like dusted)
Not such a long list, but weather that is gloomy and rainy makes me want to curl up on the couch in front of the fire with a big fat cup of hot cocoa or tea or cider and a big fat book, wrapped up in a blanket...

Well, I must fight the urge to "do nothing" (other than feed and care for the kids), and actually be somewhat productive today, so I'm off...sigh

Sounds like a wonderful Fall day to me and comforting to know that I am not the only one who does the same seemingly mundane and yet satisfying home care.
Welcome Fall!
