Hello Again...It's Me

Well, I do apologize for that hiatus, as it was completely unintentional.

Let's see...I went into my birthday weekend knowing that Captain Chaos was nursing a cold, Tiny Princess is cutting a total of 5 teeth at one time...and on Friday, as I was bathing the children (as in they were in the tub up to their cute little belly buttons in warm soapy water), BB started croaking out my name in this plaintive, little boy whine. I, uncharacteristically, dashed out the bathroom door, down the hall, and stuck my head down the stairs and said "Are you OK?"

When the answer came back that he was sick, I groaned inwardly, and said "The kids are in the tub, are you ok for 5 minutes while I rinse the soap off, and dress them?"

He grudgingly answered he'd be ok, and I ran back, drained the tub, washed off baby soap, dried kids and threw them into their respective clothing articles, combed hair, and carried my 35-pound 29 month old, and my 20 pound 9 1/2 month old down the stairs, plopped them in their chairs, threw some Cheerios and apple juice at them, and ran into the bathroom only to see BB hugging the toilet, sweating, shivering, and trying hard to stop puking.

I called the doctor, and whisked all 4 of us to the local clinic to be told that he has a sinus infection, and the drainage made him nauseous and vomitous (doc's words not mine). We went to the store to stock up on 7 Up, chicken soup, crackers and the other comfort food that BB needs when he is sick.

After picking up drugs for him, we headed home, where I made soup for BB, lunch for Captain Chaos, fed Tiny Princess, got them down for their naps (all 3 of them), ran around picking up the junk that had accumulated in my house, vacuumed, dusted, did 4 loads of laundry, ironed BBs shirts, scrubbed the aforementioned toilet, and made cookies.

After BB woke up, I scrubbed our bathroom, changed our sheets, dusted and vacuumed our bedroom. I scrubbed the kids' bathrooms, and after they awoke, I changed their sheets.

I washed everything that has a solid surface with bleach water, and Lysol'ed anything that stood still.

Saturday I spent caring for my poor invalid husband, who was too sick to put his used tissues into the trash can that was 8 inches from his hand.

Sunday, I awoke, having used my extra hour of sleep to get up and work out, made a pot of coffee, bathed and dressed the kids, and was prepared to spend the day as normal.

However, BB surprised me by dragging himself out of bed, getting showered and dressed and took me to breakfast for my birthday.

We then went shopping where everyone got something new for their wardrobe except for me. I got a laundry basket.

No joke.

I got a generous gift check from MIL yesterday, and a cute card and check from Grandma today.

No calls from my family. No cards. I did receive a resent email from MissionaryMan (who is allowed to have that due to the time difference and crazy issue with phone lines and satellites that living in Africa provides).

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, especially because I actually had cute costumes for the kids, and didn't get to use them.

I had a crappy weekend, and I'm still whining about it.

The only good thing? I already voted, early, so I didn't have to wait in any lines.

Of course, that means that I don't get free Starbucks, or Chipotle, or any other free "I Voted" stuff today. :(
