Well, this morning, I put up another 3 quarts of zucchini, and 6 quarts of squash. I have successfully made 3 gallons of tomato sauce. However, I have to wait for my acorn squash to cure, and the spaghetti squash to ripen, along with the butternut squash...and my lettuce has gone to the birds...literally...I went out this morning and found quite the family of birds eating my lettuce...who knew that birds were vegetarians?!?!?!?
On a good note, we discovered that we have a Brown Bat haunting our yard, and have built and installed a bat house...now we hope the "Bob" moves into the bat house, and out of our umbrella...
Captain Chaos is sleeping, Tiny Princess is sleeping, I have a dog snoring at my feet, the bills are paid, and I've just spent close to $200 on perishables at the store...of which, only $11 was on lunch meat, another $6 on cheese...and the rest was on produce that I can't grow in my backyard...or get from anyone around here...so, my checkbook is aching a little bit today...
I have this niggling little fear in my head that I might be harboring a little secret...I am not disclosing this to anyone at this point, but suffice it to say, I think that BB would be a bit freaked out if I am right...Sigh...
Well, I'm off to do my ironing...I have got to iron at least half of the shirts, as poor BB had to wear his corduroy pants and a polo today, as all his dress shirts are waiting to be ironed, and his khakis are all waiting to be washed...what a slacker am I????
I think I'll blame it on the 3.5 inches of rain we received over the span of 48 hours on Friday and Saturday. For those of you who don't live in Colorado...we had a crazy "cold" spell...it was only around 60 at the warmest and rained all day, both days...I thought it was going to carry into Sunday also, but the clouds finally broke up Saturday around 2pm, it was sunny and gorgeous...cool, fresh...a nice relief after the heat we had...unfortunately, it is now back up to the mid 80s, and muggy. I know, I know...I don't live back East, or in the Southeast...or even the Midwest...but I cannot stand it when the humidity gets anything above 30 or so...too sticky for me...I think, someday, when I'm old and gray, and my children are grown, I will convince my husband that we should move to Scottsdale, Arizona so we can golf year round, and never deal with humidity again...Ahhhh, to Dream!
