This morning, as I was standing on my front step talking with a neighbor about our upcoming 4th of July and Farewell to a Young Marine BBQ, the cops showed up, jumped out of their cars, pulled on their Kevlar, drew weapons and began stalking through our neighborhood.
We scurried back into our homes wide-eyed, and bolted the doors...I tried not to let my nerves show through, and about jumped out of my skin when the phone rang...
It was one of the other neighbors asking me if I knew what was going on with the family in question, as they had just taken the husband/father away on a gurney to the hospital...
Please be praying for this family, as they are dealing with an apparently ongoing issue of severe depression, and suicide attempts (this is apparently the 3rd time), and all the things that are causing it. The wife is attending my church regularly, but he has never come. He had a heart attack about 18 months ago, and had an incident with alcohol poisoning last summer, and they are dealing with the ensuing empty nest that will occur next summer when their son graduates...
Pray that we as neighbors can uplift and encourage and support this family and have the right words and actions to show how much we care about them.
