Things to Ponder

It is only 5 more days til my little Captain Chaos turns 2. I never imagined that the time would go so quickly. Why is it that it seems like only yesterday I was running through the sprinklers in my backyard with my friends, and waiting impatiently for the homemade popsicles to freeze.

And now here I am, a wife and mother of 2 children, one of which will be 2 in slightly less than a week...Crazy...

I've been waxing a bit nostalgic over the last weeks for some reason...partly because our cul-de-sac has now celebrated 3 high school graduations...one of which was for a boy I used to babysit when he was 2...it is hard to believe. We also attended the Continuation Ceremony for our neighbor girl. I am hoping that she will take me up on my offer of "hands-on babysitting practice" for a few weeks in June. I offered to pay her to come over, and take care of the kids, while I'm still here to show her how to do things like change a diaper on a live baby, and feed them etc, rather than a doll like in her class last summer...I've yet to hear back from her, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but how cool would it have been to "babysit" with the parents still there?!?!?!

Ehhh...we'll see.

At any rate, we're planning a smallish family get together for Sunday afternoon, Captain Chaos' birthday, and also my 6th wedding anniversary. For those of you who want to ask, No, we did not plan to get pregnant and deliver our child on our anniversary.

The other reason I have been waxing nostalgic is that we keep running into all these kids that are on summer break, and their behavior just makes us laugh...with the exception of the group of 8th grade boys outside the T.C.B.Y. the other day. They invited themselves to sit down with 2 very pretty 8th grade girls, and then proceeded to totally ignore the brunette and flirted badly with the blonde. When the girls were done, and got their bikes, the brunette got on what I thought was a completely awesome retro-styled bike with the fenders, and the cool wide seat...and it had this great paint scheme...the blonde got on this total mountain bike/BMX dirt bike thing...and the guys started making fun of the brunette's bike. It was all I could to keep BB from going over and knocking these jerky boys' heads together...and the worst thing is that the blonde just sort of brushed it off, and rode away. The look on the brunette's face made me want to get up and knock some kids' heads together...

We then went off on a vocal discussion about how our children would never be allowed to act like that, and that we would teach them to be respectful, and compassionate and kind...

Honestly...this was not your average, run of the mill, rude teenagers, this was mean...stupid boys...

Ok...that's enough out of me for today, especially as Captain Chaos is awake from his nap, and he and Tiny Princess are ready for lunch!
