I awoke this morning to leaden gray skies, and rain falling all around...it even thundered a few times this morning. It has since stopped raining, and is attempting to turn sunny, but I'm not holding my breath.
It is one of those days where, were I single, I would have called in sick to work, and curled up in my favorite chair with a big fat book and a large mug of something steamy to drink. However, since I am not single, and in fact have 2 children, 2 cats, 1 dog, and a husband to look after, there will be no escaping to Narnia by myself today. I am reading the complete works to Captain Chaos, but let's face it...no 23 month old has any desire to sit still and hear about lions, were-wolves, and dwarves. I would like to find the animated version on DVD for him, so if anyone knows where I can pick up a copy of "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" that is not the live-action/CGI release, let me know...I can't find it anywhere I've looked online.
BB and I are anxiously awaiting the release of "Prince Caspian" in just 8 short days, and are praying that our neighbors will watch the kids for an afternoon so we can go to the matinee. We saw the first one opening weekend with my friend and his family. I was wondering if LB will take the boys to see it now that their dad is gone (he's the one who was killed a month ago)...
Captain Chaos is nursing some sort of something, and has been running what I term a medium-grade fever. He's hot to the touch, dry, and sort of whimpery. He's been clingy, and is obviously just not feeling well. Poor little fella. I told BB to not let him get so wet on Sunday, but what can you do? I think he's getting a cold from being chilled by the water and wind the other day. He has no sniffles, no cough, and doesn't seem to be in any sort of discomfort from swollen glands or anything...just a general "I feel icky" sort of attitude. We are also suffering from the wonderful world of toddler digestive craziness. We seem to swing from one extreme to the other when it comes to his bodily functions...he has no happy medium, regardless of diet and activity...we are currently in the "waiting for something to happen" stage. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do besides dose him with mineral oil, and let him soak in the tub for long periods of time to relax his little muscles...any home remedies you can think of that might work? I don't want to buy a bag of prunes, or some prune juice because no one in my family will ingest that for any reason at all...
Tiny Princess is snoozing in her swing (honestly, I need to get serious about her routine and get her to nap in her crib or I'll be in a world of hurt in another 2 months when she doesn't fit the swing anymore) and I'm going to put CC down for his morning nap in about 10 minutes as both kiddos were awake at 6 this morning. In fact, CC is drooping over his puzzle right now, so I think I'll strike while the iron is hot.
After that, I shall do finish my laundry, do the ironing and change the sheets on my bed. Joyous day...
