On a Normal Day I'd Be Embarassed By This

But today, I care not...

Yesterday I:
  • did 3 loads of laundry - washed, dried, folded, and put away
  • changed the sheets on all the beds, washed, dried, folded and put away the "old" sheets
  • swept and washed all my floors
  • vacuumed all the carpeted surfaces
  • vacuumed my upholstery to remove the cat and dog hair, along with Cheerio crumbs
  • cleaned my kitchen (as in, moved all the counter-topping items and scrubbed the counters)
  • cleaned out my refrigerator and freezers
  • cleaned out the area underneath the gas fireplace (I had an entire cat worth of hair in there)
  • made another batch of homemade peanut butter
  • made a batch of sourdough bread for BB
  • ironed ALL of BBs work shirts and trousers (3 hours worth)
  • made lunch
  • fed and bathed the children - twice (baths anyway, Tiny Princess did eat more than twice)
  • changed 14 diapers (a slow day around here lately what with stomach bugs)
  • groomed Rocco
  • gave the cats pedicures
  • went for a walk with the double stroller
  • cleaned out the cat boxes
  • fed the animals
  • made dinner
At around 3 pm, when Captain Chaos went down for a rare afternoon nap, and Tiny Princes was also napping after her playtime on the floor to exercise all her muscles, I sat down on the couch, turned on Style and watched "Clean House"...ok, I STARTED to watch "Clean House", and while I started watching an episode with a hard rock singer and his obnoxious diva of a wife, I woke up and was watching the END of Extreme Makeover...guess I wore myself out...

The best part is that when I woke up, Captain was STILL sleeping, BB wasn't even headed home yet, and Tiny Princess was still snoozing in her crib upstairs. The dog and cats were curled up sleeping, enjoying a respite from Captain Chaos chasing them around yelling "Kitty!" or "Wah-Woo!" (his version of Rocco) and trying to pull them off of whatever they had climbed onto to get away from him. *Note - he is not trying to hurt the animals, he just thinks they are toys to be pulled around, and poked and prodded to see how they work. The animals have not been harmed, just annoyed.* Dinner was in the oven, cooking away, and I had a glorious 30 minutes to myself to wake up slowly, and stretch out. I even had the opportunity to clean myself up. After a day of as much physical work as there was, I was pretty gross-feeling, and looked like something that survived a nuclear holocaust. SO, I headed upstairs to wash my face, comb my hair, and brush my teeth. Yes, I had brushed them that morning after breakfast, but something about a nap makes them feel all fuzzy and yucky...

BB called just as I was finishing my "freshening up" (boy did I feel like the wife in that list I posted a while back), and then Captain Chaos woke up, HAPPY. He generally does not do well with afternoon naps, they make him crankier than he was. I think it's because he is hungry when he wakes up. After all, he's had no snacks since lunch, and its been about 5 hours since lunch...whereas in the morning, he has breakfast, and he gets a snack of Cheerios or Goldfish and raisins, Craisins, or some apple wedges around 9ish (the boy is up at 6:30 lately), and then we have lunch around noon. I also think he doesn't like to sleep "hot" and his room tends to be a bit on the warm side in the afternoons...at any rate...yesterday was a blessing with a happy end to the nap. Once he was changed and had his wild and unruly hair combed down a bit, Tiny Princess was awake, looking for dinner.

We all trooped downstairs, with Captain 'counting' the stairs as we went. I'm not sure about you, but 17 does not get reached by saying "onnnnnne" over and over again as I step down...but it sure is awfully cute...just as we reached the bottom step, BB came in the door and was greeted with an full-lunged holler of "Daddy!" and a flying leap for a kiss. All I can say about that is it is a good thing BB was as alert as he was, or they both would have ended up in the ER needing stitches and casts last night. I've never seen Capt throw himself so hard at BB...it was too cute.

We had our dinner, and watched a bit of the Avalanche/Red Wings game, and then BB and Captain Chaos headed for bed. It was all of 8:15. I put Tiny Princess down, and came back downstairs, finished the dinner dishes (i.e. loaded the dishwasher, put soap in it, and started it), took care of the animals, straightened up the family room, swept the kitchen floor and dust-busted the crumbs, put the recycling and full bag of trash in the big can, closed up the house, set the alarm, turned out the remaining lights, headed upstairs, washed my face (I'm OCD about that...years of acne do that to a person), brushed my teeth (old habits die hard eh?), and tumbled into bed...at 9:30.

Tiny Princess woke at 11. I fell asleep in the rocking chair nursing her, and finally got back to bed at 12:30. She was up again at 2:30, I fell asleep again, woke around 4 and got back to bed, only to be awakened by howling dogs from the neighbors' yard at 5:30 am. I looked out our window, saw which dogs they were, and called the police. Yes, I know...how mean am I? BUT...in my defense, we have a noise ordinance in our town that states quite clearly that from 10pm to 6am EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK, excessive noise is against the rules...and their dogs are out howling and barking ALL THE TIME. This is NOT the first time I have called on them...and I'm afraid it won't be the last. They have more animals than our City code allows, none of them are registered, none of them are "fixed" so when they get out, the cats are fighting over mating rights, and the dogs are happily going after the whole neighborhood of dogs that are out at the time...OY!

So, today, I am enjoying some quiet time while BB works from home...and the kiddos sleep.
