Sunshine and Blue Skies

Well, starting sometime after midnight Wednesday, it started snowing...and it didn't stop until sometime around 6pm last night...

We spent the day with my folks, and PreacherMan (and the ensuing madhouse that is my family). My check-up with the doctor went well...all things look great, and I'm 50% effaced, and not dilated at all. The doctor has no reason to think we will not make it until January 22nd. PreacherMan would like for this baby to make its appearance before they head back to sunny California on January 4th...I told him I'd make no promises.

Captain Chaos is a little ham...and an attention hound. The last 4 days, since the arrival of PreacherMan and his family, he has been running around, smiling, turning on the charm full force and has completely won over his Aunt and Uncle, the 2 "little" cousins (almost 11 and almost 9), and even the almost 15 year old is completely charmed by his smiles and behavior. The Captain's been chasing around his cousins remote control Jeep, and putting puzzle pieces in the tupperware cabinet...All in all, its been a great half a week.

My hand is NOT broken, just badly bruised, still a little swollen, and incredibly sore right now. Its hard to grip, which makes it hard to open things...thankfully it is my right hand, and being lefthanded, I have been mostly able to get things taken care of, although I did find that use my right hand much more than I thought I did...

My cold has now settled in my chest, my lips are chapped beyond all recognition, and my nose is red and sore...BUT - I am strong in my belief that it will be a traditional 10-day cold, and by Sunday night I will be better. In the meantime, I'm wishing I'd bought stock in the Robitussin company, as I've gone through an entire bottle in the last week...and it is the ONLY thing on the list of "approved medications" that has worked for me...leaving me with a cabinet full of things I will never use again...GRRRRRR.

The Captain, thankfully, is also on the mend, due in large part to dosing him with echinacea, and a little Motrin at bedtime to help him fall asleep faster...

I've got laundry going, my little Christmas decorations are coming down (alas, with all the fear of baby coming early, we're undecorating much sooner than I'd like!), and a cup of hot tea with honey sitting by my elbow. BB, PreacherMan, and my Dad have gone to the Designer's house (brother #2) to finish the re-wiring of his ancient electrical pathways, thus allowing him to SEE in every room in his house, safely, and without special attachments that convert your 3-prong plug into a 2-prong one to actually fit into the outlet...the house was built in 1947...you can imagine the mess the wiring is...better the boys than I...so the house is quiet while the Captain naps, Mom, SIL, and niece and nephews are ensconced at Mom's house, making Rice Krispie treats, and getting ready to go sledding, and so I'm staying home...in the quiet, warmth, and peace of my own place, planning to drift away into slumber at any moment...to heal my poor sick body.

I'm sending lots of hugs out to my dear FarmWife and her 4 munchkins, who have been sick on and off over the last few months, and continually sharing with her. Here's to a speedy recovery, and a break from illness for a few weeks!!!!
