Ahhhh...there's nothing quite like coming home, no matter what the famous author says differently...
We had a very nice weekend with Motorcycle Man, and family. We got to see nephew's ball game (although his coach never did have him pitch), spent time with niece and her boyfriend (who I'm sure is a lovely boy, but is so overwhelmed by MM that he doesn't quite know what to do!), had real conversations with MM and his wife...
It poured buckets on Sunday, so we spent the day indoors, watching NASCAR, talking, playing with the kids, retrieving the kids from those places they shouldn't have gotten to in the first place, it was nice.
Sunday night we packed and sorted and organized, and scoured every inch of the hotel suite. I think, all in all, we only lost one matchbox car...but I've yet to truly unpack everything.
We had a very good day yesterday...the kids ate a good breakfast, we made it to airport early enough they could run/crawl off some energy, without disturbing too many folks. They started to tire about the time the concourse started to fill up with passengers. We had lunch from B.urger Ki.ng (at 10 am, chicken tenders and onion rings are somehow more of a treat...), boarded the plane, and settled in. Tiny Princess slept through about 90% of the flight on my lap, Captain Chaos was in a zombie-like state watching cartoons, and I watched Employee of the Month on the Comedy channel (I HEART TV ON AIRPLANES!!!!!). BB was able to work a bit, and all in all it was pleasant! We landed on time, were the last ones off the plane with MUCH assistance from flight attendants (that was awesome!), got our bags, got to our vehicle, loaded up, and were home about 4:30 (our flight landed at 2:30, and it is normally only an hour drive home...what's that say about us???)
The kids played a bit, we fed them dinner, gave them a bath, and put them to bed at 6:30. We got to watch some previously recorded shows from the last 2 weeks, and went to bed around 10. I read a new book, and slept like a rock until 3 when Tiny Princess decided she was hungry. I retrieved a bottle for her, changed her pants, and put her back in bed, where she slept for another 6 hours. Captain Chaos slept soundly from 7 last night until almost 9 this morning. They were exhausted!
BB was up and out the door for work by 7:30, as he has a presentation to finish and turn in today. He worked for about 6 hours after we got home last night, running programs, working on as much as he could so he can focus on the presentation during the day today.
Tiny Princess is down for a morning nap, and I'm going to have my mom come over after lunch while they sleep so I can do the grocery shopping.
I've unpacked the clothes and toiletries and done 2 loads of laundry, not counting the putting away of the load of clothes that were folded the night before we left.
I'm now heading to get snacks for Captain Chaos, and then he's going for a nap also, as I know he's still tired.
I'm starving and am hoping that Mom can come over sooner rather than later, and may just end up ordering lunch in today, as I have no real lunch food...OY!
I should have gone last night, but I was wiped out and didn't want to go anywhere, let alone get there by sitting down for any amount of time again in a confined space.
I do know that this was absolutely our last trip without Tiny Princess having her own seat on the plane...she is way too wiggly to sit on our laps anymore...sigh...guess that means we'll be doing less flying, less trips in general, and if we do go somewhere, we'll most likely be driving to get there. Not that I don't mind car trips, but car trips with an almost-3-year-old, and a 13-month old as well as a husband who gets impatient and tired but doesn't like to let me drive don't really appeal the same as the trips I took when I was younger when you'd throw some fruit, some soda, a couple bottles of water, a couple bags of chips and sunflower seeds in a box and/or cooler, throw your pillow, and duffle bag with your stuff into the car and head out onto the open road with the windows down, and your favorite songs blasting on the stereo...now, of course, I can hook up my MP3 player, meaning we'll have a really great playlist, but I don't relish the backsliding of potty training that would inevitable happen...
We'll see what comes this summer...I do know that we'll be hiking and camping a LOT over the next 2 or 3 summers to get the money's worth out of our backpack carriers!

Glad you are home & getting rested. I know how exhausting trips can be & ours are only ever a few days long!
