Dream to Nightmare Faster than You Can Say "Jack Frost" - UPDATED

OY!

SO...Saturday night, Tiny Princess threw up. A lot. Several times. Resulting in my not sleeping so much, doing laundry on Sunday, and feeling mostly normal yesterday. I thought all was well.

She's fine.

Last night, right before dinner, Captain Chaos threw up. He seemed fine right away, I chalked it up to being over hungry (been there a couple times myself). He ate some chicken, and some fruit, drank some apple juice. About ten minutes later, it all came back.

I gave him a bath, cleaned up the living area, the dishes, etc. and put him to bed.

About 2 this morning, I woke to hear him crying loudly from the other room...and went in to find him covered in it, on the floor, with a bloody nose...somehow, he'd fallen out of bed, thrown up, and was very sad, not feeling good at all...it was rough.

SO...I cleaned him up, cleaned up the room in the dark, comforted him, got him some water, and comforted Tiny Princess back to sleep. About 2 minutes after sipping the water, Captain Chaos threw up again. I cleaned him up. Again. Cleaned up the bed as best I could, stripped it, made it in some semblance of order so the boy could sleep, and crashed on the couch for an hour or so til I knew he was asleep for real. Then I washed my hands again. Crawled back into bed, and slept until BB brushed his teeth at 5 after 6 this morning.

I decided to just get up, and get ready for the day. I grabbed some breakfast for the 3 of us from the dining room, and headed back so BB could eat in the dining room and head to work.

Since then, Captain is sleeping (thankfully!), and Tiny Princess has been awake long enough to have been dressed and given some scrambled egg from the dining room.

I called our pediatrician (thank God for free long distance on the Wireless network we have), and learned that it is most likely viral and will work itself out in the next 24 - 48 hours.

In the meantime, I'm going to finish giving the girl her breakfast, and will then attempt to keep things sane, and clean. Housekeeping is coming later with clean bedding and towels, and I'll do the laundry while the kids nap this afternoon.

Pray for Farmwife - she was up last night with all 4 of her kids sick, as well as herself. Her Darling Hubby works the swing shift, and is gone for around 12 hours each night, so she was alone, sick, taking care of her kids, that are 7 years down to 18 months old.

Hoping to talk later if I can keep my eyes open...

UPDATE!

I HEART Housekeeping! This sweet Spanish-speaking woman just came in, and totally cleaned (and I mean, on her hands and knees scrubbed the floor cleaned) our suite, all the square-footage of it, every inch of tile, counter, cabinet door, drawer front, window sill, blind slat, mirror, window, door handle, carpet, bedding...she even sanitized the inside of the microwave...

Now, the only downside, is that the whole place reeks of ammonia, and heavy-duty industrial-strength chemical cleaners...

All traces of last night's puke-fest are removed, the suite is shiny and clean, there are no Cheerios stuck to my socks, the couch, the chairs, the dishwasher is running (yes, there's a dishwasher here, along with other snazzy acoutrements that you can read about below if you'd like), and all I have to do while the kids nap this afternoon is sneak out with 2 loads of laundry, wash them, and dry them, and bring them back. Thank God the laundry facility is only about 100 yards away from our door, or I'd have to wait til tonight when BB gets home from work.

I've got a fridge full of food to eat during the daytime, and BB and I will be enjoying lasagna (albeit frozen Stouffer's, but hey! this is vacation for me after all) tonight. We have applesauce, apple juice, Pedialyte, roasted chicken, turkey, cheese, tortillas, bagels, bananas, grapes, peaches, oranges, taco chips and salsa, Nutt.er Butt.er cookies, Chips A.hoy cookies, a box of chocolates, I've still got Wolf.gang P.uck coffee that I'm sipping, and 3 bottles of Diet P.epsi (which, by the way, the new logo for which looks like a cross between some Anime something or other and the Obama campaign logo). OH! We also have sugar free pudding, milk, and 2 pieces of apple pie.

All in all, I could never leave this room and have enough food to feed my family for the next 6 days.

Lesson learned here?
  1. NEVER, and I mean never send a man to do the grocery shopping when he hasn't had anything to eat in 7 hours and you're only going to be in a location for 6 more days.
  2. Always assert yourself when you say you don't want to do something. No matter if it is your husband...tell him in no uncertain terms that you do not want to go to California for 10 days with your 2 1/2 year old and 13 month old while he will be working in said location. I don't care how good a deal the plane tickets and hotel may be. DON'T GIVE IN!
  3. The price of an upscale hotel is TOTALLY worth it...especially when it involves grocery delivery along with full housekeeping at no additional charge.
And now, back to keeping a no-longer-puking Captain Chaos out of trouble, which involves saying to him "don't lick the couch cushion!"

SIGH
