Venting

Well, let's see...today, I have all the presents wrapped, and under the tree, the decorations are gracing my home, the children are watching an episode of "Word World" happily, while we wait for a splurge on delivered lunch from a fabulous deli up the road...laundry is underway, I've clean sheets on the beds, clean toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, floors, counters, and the furniture has been dusted and I've only got vacuuming to do, and then I'll wash my floors. I've got 2 more batches of cookies to bake, some dips to mix up for munching and grazing that will go on at my parents' home this week while everyone is here.

My brother is coming up from Denver tomorrow and has promised to go to the "haircut house" with Capt. Chaos, Tiny Princess and I while BB works, so that Capt can not be the shaggiest one in the family picture this upcoming Saturday.

My mother almost cried while we were on the phone this morning...apparently MissionaryMan and his wife had an argument this morning, the children were both screaming, and my sister-in-law had the audacity to be upset at my mother and father for not having ingredients on hand to bake a chocolate chip carrot cake for my brother's birthday today, after my mother and father had gone and spent close to $300 on groceries...OY...I'm not going there...but I am going to bake the cake happily and not choke my brother...and I'm not going to gripe anymore. I am determined to enjoy the next 10 days while everyone is here.

That being said, I'm going to put my children down for their afternoon nap, having fed them lunch. After that, I'm going to punch down my sourdough bread, bake cookies, vacuum my carpet, put away laundry, make more cookies and wash my floor. All in 2 1/2 hours while they nap.

It is now cloudy and really cold outside, with a promise of snow in the air, Christmas music is playing, the scent of holly and cookies is in the air...it promises to be a productive afternoon while I channel my anger at my brother into the work I need to do.

I will not post anymore about negative things this week...you know, like Thumper's mom says "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!"
