Our trip started out uneventfully. And then we got on the plane. Captain Chaos coughed so hard he threw up. All over himself and the car seat. Right as the pilot was announcing that we were ready to take off. The attendant graciously provided wet and dry paper towels, a trash bag, and some stickers to distract Captain Chaos. BB had very graciously and quite out of character for him, taken the middle seat to be next to the Capt. Now, my hubby does not do well with bodily fluids that are odiferous in any way shape or form. But he sat there, patiently cleaning up the boy, wiping him up, assuring him it was ok, and that we were not upset with him. He was fine the rest of the flight, just smelly. Tiny Princess was quite good, just overtired and a bit whiny, but she fell asleep on my lap and was our happy girl when she woke right before we landed.
The beginning of the trip from the airport was a bit worrisome, as after we had sponge bathed Capt Chaos in the restroom, and dressed him in clean clothes, gotten the car and loaded up, he immediately started saying that he had to go potty, and that his bottom hurt. Normally, this signals the beginning of some serious bowel movement issues...so I was worried. About 20 minutes later, he "happied up". No BM, but happy. We stopped in a town about an hour from the in-laws place on the coast to let him run around and to decompress our derrieres. About 2 miutes after we got there, he stopped, leaned against a stack of boxes, and 30 seconds later smiled at me and said "Big poop, Mommy!" and went his merry way up and down every aisle of that Costco...thank goodness we weren't downwind...I wasn't about to interrupt his exploration to change him again (don't tell me I'm a bad mom...), and so waited til we were done shopping.
We arrived to find a house full of construction workers, fininshing cabinet installation, countertop installation, and appliance installation. We chatted for 2 hours, and then, as the children began to meltdown, I said "I'll get the kids' dinner", and MIL said "Oh, can't they eat at the restaurant?"
I was like, "Uh, sure!" and thinking "did she say we were going out and I missed it???!?!?!?!"
We had dinner, and came home, got settled for bed, and spent Friday catching up on sleep, and getting necessary items (diapers, formula etc). Last night, we had homemade meatloaf, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes...it was delicious, and all done in a sweet new kitchen!
I was awakened this morning at 5:30 by the Tiny Princess, who had decided that 15 hours of sleep straight through was enough. She had some milk and fell asleep on my chest in the living room, where we snoozed, snuggled under the blanket for 2 hours, and then had breakfast.
The boys have gone out to do "boy shopping", Tiny Princess is down for her morning nap, and we are going to the garage to pain the window casings and trim molding.
I am bleeding like a stuck pig, have horrible cramps this morning...
Today, we go see Grandma, and then, we get to have BJs ice cream...13% butterfat...handmade. Handscooped hard ice cream in 36 decadent flavors...mmm...
I'm off to go get dirty!
Toodles for now!
