I feel like I should preface this with "The Fastest 2 Minutes is TV" theme song or something...the kids are getting cranky and need naps, I've got 3 loads of laundry left to do, a mountain of ironing for BB, dinner to get ready to be cooked, bills to pay...OY!
Yesterday was BB's birthday, and, as is my family's new tradition, we do a family dinner on the Sunday closest to our actual birthday. HOWEVER, as my mother was out of town at a quilting retreat (yes, you read that correctly), we opted to wait until next Sunday (as much for my mom not being around as because my birthday is the following Sunday). SO, Saturday, I told BB that we could do whatever he wanted this weekend...and meant it sincerely. We spent Saturday morning playing with Captain Chaos in the basement playroom, and going between that and other odd things around the house, including but not limited to, working in my office a bit, letting BB go to an auction (SIGH), cooking, and mowing the grass and getting the winterizer down on said grass. Saturday night, BB went to bed about 10 minutes after I got the kids down for bed...which meant he was in bed and sound asleep at 8:15 pm.
Sunday, we took him out to breakfast at our IHOP, where he indulged in the All-You-Can-Eat Pancake special. After breakfast, he decided we should go to our local furniture store to look for a new chair to put in Captain Chaos' room, in which BB could sit and read bedtime stories to Captain Chaos (Tiny Princess has the rocker in her room). We didn't find anything that we actually fell in love with that was worth paying the money for. Seriously - how can someone charge $300 for a rocking chair that is made out of pine, covered with maple veneer, and then call it "high-quality solid maple"? Grrrrr...
Anyway, we came home, watched football, and had a small lunch. The kids napped, and BB sat in his chair for 4 hours. We then went to a favorite restaurant for dinner, and ate way too much food.
I gave him his gift, and we came home, watched most of the Sunday Night Football game, and he decided at 8:30 that he was tired again, and went to bed...
Not the most exciting of weekends, but the highlights do include Captain Chaos running around all weekend yelling "Happy Cake Daddy!!" over and over again...it was really cute.
More news later about the rest of the family...
