Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

We went to the Zoo today! We had a blast!

BB took the day off, my mom went with us (Dad was supposed to but was struck down the "summer virus" this week and stayed home sick!), and we strolled through the zoo, listening to Captain Chaos learn to say things like Bongo, Oryx, Lemur, Wapiti, and Rhino (which came out sounding like "Ny-no"), and run around during our break times saying "Am-mulls!" over and over and over and over...

The kids were excellent! We had only one minor meltdown, when Captain Chaos did not want dry pants, but wanted to go see "Mo! Am-Mulls! Mo!!" and actually stomped his little feet, and did a pretend cry gig. It would have been cute, had I not been sitting in goose-poo laden grass, with a fleece blanket draped over me as I fed Tiny Princess her lunch. The Princess ate, rode in the stroller, watched Mom and I, ate, slept, ate, watched some more, and slept some more as well...

We took a ton of pictures...of the animals...we were halfway home before we realized that we hadn't taken any pictures of Captain Chaos, Tiny Princess, Mom, BB, or myself at the zoo...oh well...we can't be perfect all the time right?!?!?

We spent about 5 hours down there, and just as we were done, it was getting hot, which meant we had timed it almost perfectly! We got to the car, changed diapers, made a bottle for Tiny Princess so she could eat and then sleep on the way home, filled up sippy cups, and snack cups for Captain Chaos, and loaded up. We drove home, and about halfway there, had to stop to burp the baby as she'd literally drank the 8 ounces of formula in about 3 minutes flat...we got back on the road, and had to pull over about 10 minutes later to make another bottle and try to get her to sleep.

We had just gotten to the south edge of town when the mechanic called to tell me my car was fixed, so we swung by the shop and picked up my car...it now sounds like a car, and not an over-sized mower! And, the best part is that my mechanic saved me $250 over dealer quote to fix the problem! I love my mechanic!

Mom went with me, BB took the kids home and got them down for naps, and after I got home, we had a light dinner, talked to Grandma on the phone for a bit, and are now sitting and watching the Indiana Jones marathon on USA.

I am listening to BB snore from his La-Z -Boy, and anticipating that I shall be awakened around 3 am by Tiny Princess, as she went to sleep about an hour ago...of course, I think that Captain Chaos will wake up around 40 minutes from now, soaked to the skin, in need of dinner, a bath, and bed in that order...so we'll see!

All in all, it was a great day! Not only did we have the great zoo experience, I had my vacuum serviced, and it didn't cost a cent as it was under warranty, and BB dropped below the 300-pound mark, I dropped another 3 pounds this week, and am so close to the 140 mark I can taste it!

I took back the skirt that was too big, and got an even better one from Dick's sporting goods, on clearance, for $3. That is NOT a typo...I purchased a $75 running skirt on clearance, that had been marked down to $45, then to $24, then to $14.99, and erroneously placed on the "Take an additional 75% off the lowest price" rack...It is much better than the one I found at Target, as it is lighter weight, making it easier to pack, as well as to wash and wear...I can't wait!

Well, the laundry calls, and I have 10 ladies coming to my house Monday night for pedicures, manicures and mini-massages, so I have to do all the tidying and straightening I can before Monday, so I'm not running like a crazy person that day...I want to be relaxed and ready to go by noon that day...here's hoping! (Fingers crossed!)
