My joints ache today...I am chalking it up to the fact that we were plunged from the cool of spring (50 degree days) into the intense heat of summer (4 days in a row of 80+), and back into spring again this morning...
We went to bed last night with clear skies, a little breeze and the very distant glow of occasional lightning from the thunderstorms that were way out east of us. We trusted the weatherman when he said no clouds, no rain until later on for our area...and awoke this morning to leaden gray skies, and cold. Damp cold...I have forgotten how muggy summer in Colorado can be (yes, I said muggy), and have been dying this last week in the humidity. I think it was more because I just wasn't ready for 90 degrees 3 days in a row, with the 4th being only 89. However, I understand that we have also been in drought conditions for the last 5 or so summers, and, in fact, are still considered under drought conditions even with above average rainfall for this month. It is supposed to be in the upper 70s for the next 7 days, with chances of thunderstorms and rain every afternoon. Ahhh...to be back in the groove of summertime in Colorado.
I remember growing up, waiting for 3pm every day, because we knew that it would cloud up, pour buckets, thunder and lightning fiercely for about 45 minutes or so, and then clear up, chasing away the intense heat, the bugs, and most importantly, the mosquitoes would go away until after dark, making it that much more enjoyable to be anywhere other than the basement.
Which, of course, brings me to my next posting topic...so read up...

we had a blast of summer one day in april then snow then spring rain, last weekend we had high heat and I have the sunburn to prove it but we've had rain since and it was supposed to let up and hasn't. I would just like a cool 70-75 degrees and I would be happy. But then again we'll be muggy and wet here.
