They had a cistern instead of a well & in the summer months, water was in short supply. Do you keep your pasta/potato water after you've cooked with it? That can be used to water plants/gardens. Our new toilet only uses 1.6 gallons of water per flush. It's LOVELY, but I realize installing a new toilet isn't exactly going to help keep you in the black at the moment.

One thing I do recommend is supervised hand washing. It is amazing how much water the FarmHands can waste when allowed to shower/wash their hands entire alone. But then, maybe that's just my kids.

Good luck in your cut-backs (but I can say, I'm much happier now that we've nixed the Dish Network).FarmWifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08160105159061698526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6753966905311105194.post-49959226828367918622012-03-12T16:35:36.268-06:002012-03-12T16:35:36.268-06:00I took Navy showers in Argentina. Coming back home included kissing the ground in New York, and being tempted to kiss the toilet that flushed with ease and the shower that was consistently warm and working in my folks' house.

I totally bet you could do the texturing thing yourself. I textured one wall in my bedroom when I was redecorating, and while it took more time than merely painting, it wasn't too hard for even an amateur painter like me. Oh, who am I kidding? I'm a beginner. It still wasn't too hard. And you? You're talented and can do anything that you put your mind to. So I bet it will be a breeze. I just recommend paying for a babysitter or a roll of duct tape. ;)

Wish I had cost saving brilliance to share, but after spending the last of my grocery money on gluten free flours and such today I have to say I need help in that area too. Geez. Stuff is e.x.p.e.n.s.i.v.e..Inklinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02775312085301951675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6753966905311105194.post-34944021096518274292012-03-12T11:33:38.590-06:002012-03-12T11:33:38.590-06:00We saved a TON by regulating our electric and gas ...We saved a TON by regulating our electric and gas bills - flat rate monthly payments versus paying for usage has made a GIANT difference for us!!
